James is back in the swing of things

After a great Christmas at home (with enough festive outdoor lights to rival Vegas), James is enjoying his coaching sessions at Branston in preparation for the Spanish Junior Open at the end of this month. James has been invited to join other children at his level from across the globe. This is also a qualifier for the inaugural world championship event, the Veritas Golf Tournament, in Los Angeles that will take place this July so a lot rests on James’ performance in Spain.

Dad Phil and James will be leaving for La Cala Golf Resort in Spain at the end of January on a ‘lads only’ tour (sorry girls) as it takes place during school time. Meanwhile James is taking advantage of extra coaching sessions in readiness for the event.

James ready for county training

James is now fully recovered after his broken rib and looking forward to giving his brand new Ping golf clubs a much needed workout.

He starts with England Golf Academy Coach, Mark McEvoy at Sandwell on Saturday where his county coaching begins.

James suffers setback through injury

James look set to spend the next few weeks only able to practice his putting following an accident at school where he broke a rib. The doctors have advised him to avoid sport for a few weeks so it looks as though he is going to be a demon putter by the time he recovers! It is extremely frustrating for James who is keen to get playing with his new PING G20 clubs that he took delivery of only last week.

James is first UK junior to be fitted with PING G20 clubs!

Following a trip to Gainsborough, the PING fitting centre in the UK, James is the proud owner of a new set of custom fitted woods, irons and tour series wedges.

“I love my new clubs” commented James. “They’ll take some getting used to but I can already tell they are going to be amazing” he finished.

James is back in the saddle

After 6 weeks off school and golf, James is glad to be back into his golf training regime with coaching starting again on Monday of this week. Over the holidays, James played some leisurely golf with dad Phil but mostly took it easy and recharged his batteries. He also met his hero Lee Westwood, not for the first time, and is now back in training for the day in the future when he hopes to play against him!

James flies home after a tough comp

It’s all over now. The last two days have been tough, without dad, the changing conditions and the heat meant I ran out of steam. I shot 81 today which I was a little disappointed with but I can proudly say I have played with the top 120 in the world and finished 92nd. So I’ve had an amazing experience and believe I have learned loads. I will come back much stronger. It was fantastic and real honour to represent the UK. Over and out a very tired James Bailey xxx

and it’s off to Sea World San Diego…

Hi all, i had a bad day at the office today with a 77 gross – normally not a bad score but out here it’s not good enough with the stiff competition.

I am a little disappointed but on the upside I now get to go to Seaworld San Diego! Catch up tomorrow with my last day of action…

Its about to get serious…

The real deal today, I tee off in 3 hours! Will update you all later when you are tucked up in bed!I am on fire – the heat and my game! The sun is in the late 80s and my golf is in the late 60s! Shot 68 gross, played to 6 over.

Just came back from beach, it was awesome. Now a couple of beers and then bed ha ha. It’s the big day tomorrow, day 1. I need my game to be at it’s best. I will give you update after my round, fingers crossed.

It’s all about to start…

6.30 am and it’s my official practice round today without Dad as my caddie. Played well yesterday with a 71 gross, 1 over gross on the back 9. I went to the Opening Ceremony last night which was awesome and I was so proud to be representing the UK. Off for breakfast now…

    James is on fire!

Well that was hot! Course is great, greens are quick and take the ball well, even a couple of spin backs just like the Pro’s. Played well, shot 74 gross! Course par is 62 so played to 12. Hoping for a 70 tomorrow
